What's so special about this date? Well for all you Rooster's out there, you are about to have a good year. Today is Chinese New Year and more specifically the year of the Rooster.

Are you born in 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1981, 1993, 2005 or 2017, as this could be your year!

Roosters are said to be the most motivated animal in the Chinese zodiac, and make their careers a priority. They are hard-working and able to deal with a variety of jobs due to their multiple talents.

This year the official day of Chinese New Year is Saturday 28th January. In a traditional celebration dragon and lion dances are performed for reasons of good luck and also to drive away evil spirits. They also have the Lantern Festival or the "The Little New Year" - this marks the end of the series of celebrations starting from the Chinese New Year. This is a Buddhist holiday, where children go out at night carrying brightly lit lanterns. In the past the day served as a day for love. and matchmaking, as it was one of the few days on which there was no strict curfew. Other popular events that happen at this festival would include eating tang yuan and guessing lantern riddles (which you often found were messages of love).
